A Yorkshire Wedding at Spicer Manor, Sheffield.

There was just one word that came to mind when I first visited Spicer Manor ahead of Gayle and Andy’s wedding… Breathtaking.

Spicer Manor is nestled on the edge of the stunning Peak District National Park in Yorkshire. Making it the perfect location if you’re looking for a wedding venue within reach from Leeds, Sheffield, Huddersfield and even Manchester.

The venue its self is for exclusive use, and is a large luxurious house that can sleep up to 34 guests in 15 en-suite bedrooms. So you can turn your wedding day into a fun filled weekend away whilst enjoying the countryside location and breathtaking views across Yorkshire. Seperate to the main house is the Coach House, which is a purpose built function room that can hold events for up to 140 guests.

Natural, Relaxed Storytelling for Laid Back Couples.

Working with loved up couples, who are laid back and (in a polite way) forget that I’m there, are what makes my day easier and lets me capture a wedding day in an authentically candid way.

I arrived early in the morning to find Gayle and the girls getting all glammed up in the cinema room, bridal party preparations were well under way.

The wonderful thing about Spicer Manor is that it allows for both wedding parties to get ready under the same roof, without spoiling any surprises. So, whilst I was busy focusing on the ladies, my assistant was able to photograph the boys getting ready. As always a lot of work goes into making sure ties are tied correctly, and button hole are securely fastened.

Full disclosure, I was 8 months pregnant when I photographed Gayle and Andy’s wedding so although I’d originally planned on photographing it all myself, I did bring a long a second photographer who would take care of the Andy and the rest of the grooms party. (and stop me from running/ waddling around the venue quite so much)

The Wedding Ceremony in the Coach House.

As guest began to arrive they were able to enjoy refreshments and the kids played lawn games before heading into the beautifully decorated coach house before the ceremony. The atmosphere and anticipation waiting Gayle’s arrival was electric, and Andy made a suitably nervous but excited groom.

Although my approach is very much about telling your story, I am more than happy to do more formal group photographs and statement photographs of the newly weds, after all they tend to be the ones that you will have framed and that you’re Nana will want on her mantlepiece.

The front lawn at Spicer Manor, makes the perfect space for these with the Manor OR the stunning views of Yorkshire as the perfect backdrop.

A quick and masterfully planned turn around of The Coach House and it’s ready for the meal, the speeches and the evening reception, aka. PARTY TIME!

Gayle and Andy had something a special surprise planned.
